Sunday night's Pro Football Hall of Fame means it's once again time to open the Preseason Challenge. NFL Network has for some years now aired all of each season's preseason games. So, on the theory that any football is good football (a theory preseason football pretty consistently debunks), I set out to watch as many preseason games as possible, and offer my observations here.
I did actually complete a 65-game Challenge eight years ago. In recent years, though, my performance has been mainly pathetic, with last year a new low not even worth discussing further. With that in mind, my main goal this year is just an NFC West mini-challenge, so I'll prioritize those games this year.
I do have the technological advantage of a new high-capacity (200 hours) DVR. I rarely had more than 10 hours of free space on my old one, so it'll be a big boost to be able to have a whole week of games out there at a time.
This challenge was a lot easier to pull off in the days when I was an unemployed insomniac, but I'll try to show more respect to it this year.
Let the preseason ranting begin!
